Completed in 1993 with the help of former Cal rower Curt Rocca, alumni, and university, the Curt Rocca Boathouse is home to both the Men’s and Women’s crew teams. With 4000-square feet, it houses two bays, one for the men’s team and another for the women’s. All of the team’s racing shells are housed here. It features two docks, both recently built, sitting on Lake Washington, just off of the Sacramento River. The boathouse is maintained by the rowers themselves through frequent boathouse cleanup days.
With the help of the alumni association, the team was able to secure a 24 hours training area on campus. Our rowing machines and other training equipment are located here.
The docks of Curt Rocca allow the rowers to access the Sacramento Deep Water Shipping Channel through Lake Washington. The deep water shipping channel allows for a four-lane 2000-meter race course and nearly unlimited rowing territory downstream. The waters are shared by local fishermen, River City Rowing, and cargo ships.
